Shellfishing season opens
Most of the Great Salt Pond will re-open for shellfishing on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Still off-limits are the buoyed area of Cormorant Cove and two other sanctuary areas. Maps and regulations are available at the Harbor’s office at Town Hall. Although the taking of quahogs, sea clams and mussels are allowed, the season for oysters and scallops does not begin until Nov. 1.
Anyone over 13 years of age is required to have a license. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult with a license. Licenses can be obtained Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Town Hall. — Renée Meyer
