Club Soda is hosting its 11th Annual Pig Roast as a fundraiser for the town’s Emergency Medical Technician team. This year the event will be held in honor of island resident Roger Aubut, who passed away almost two years ago.
“We have music all day and night, lots of local musicians play, and we roast a pig so there will be lots of food, a horseshoe tournament and a raffle,” said Club Soda co-owner Rick Lysik. The horseshoe tournament, which is held at the pub, starts Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. and food will be served beginning at 3 p.m.
Suggested donations are $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Lysik said the event has raised more than $30,000 over the past decade.
When asked why he started the event, Lysik said he didn’t “do well with people who are hurt and so I always admired the EMTs. I wanted to do something.”
The event will happen rain or shine. — Lars Trodson
