Maria Diuk-Wasser, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health, will present some of the research findings on the ecology and epidemiology of Lyme disease and babesiosis on Block Island since 2010. Her lab studies factors influencing the prevalence of these diseases in nature, including the role of deer, small mammals and birds in the transmission cycle. She also studies how environmental exposure to ticks may be modified by human behavior to affect disease risk.
