OSAMP subcommittee votes to support Deepwater

Work session held today in Narragansett
Apr 03, 2014

The Coastal Resources Management Council’s Ocean Special Area Management subcommittee voted unanimously this morning for the Block Island Deepwater Wind Project. A formal vote was taken at about 9:30 a.m. after a consideration of 14 stipulations to the project later this morning.

During the discussion, there was an undercurrent of the importance of the project to the state and the benefits of wind energy in general. The work session was well attended, with about 75 people in the audience.

The OSAMP work session was held at the Bay Campus of the University of Rhode Island at 8:30 a.m. The vote comes after three public hearings — two on the mainland and one on Block Island.
