Offer extended to physicianTo succeed Dr. Janice Miller as island doctor
After deliberating for 35 minutes in closed session on Monday, Aug. 25, members of the Block Island Health Services board voted to make an offer to a physician candidate for the post being vacated by Dr. Janice Miller.
Board president Bob Fallon announced the board was following the recommendation of the Search Committee.
The applicant, Fallon said , was board certified, associated with a major hospital and was experienced in emergency care and is not being named at this time.
Five members of the Search Committee — Chair Al Casazza, Cindy Baute, Nancy Greenaway, Naomi Kerest and Rob Sigman — were present to make the recommendation, which was done in closed session.
Fallon said the board was in the process of developing a contract at this time. He added the process might take a month to complete.
