Obituary: Everett J. Brown
Everett J. Brown died on Wednesday, September 26 peacefully at the Genesis Health Care Center in Coventry, R.I.
Everett was born on Block Island on May 24,1929. His mother was Lenis Dunn Brown King of Block Island and his father was Howard M. Brown of New York.
Everett attended and graduated from the Block Island School. He was a member of the Atlantic Lodge and Manisses Chapter Number 11, O.E.S of Block Island, and served on the Block Island School Committee. He worked on Block Island for 45 years, holding jobs at Ballard’s Service Station, Block Island Public Market and The Block Island Power Company. He was also a shell fisherman, and he owned and drove a taxi service for a number of years.
Everett and his wife, Barbara W. Brown, were married 61 years. When he retired from the Power Company they moved to Oakdale, Connecticut, and from there visited and traveled around the country. He enjoyed a full life, and was beloved by all who crossed his path.
He leaves his wife, Barbara W. Brown; two sons, Stephen E. Brown of California and Adam J. Brown of Chartestown, R.I.; and 33 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His service will be held on Sept. 18, 2013. The delay is for family members and friends to be able to travel and attend at that time. More details will be posted before the service.
