New Members featured at Spring Street Gallery June 30th - July 13th
From Sunday, June 30th, through Saturday, July 13th, the gallery will be featuring the work of five new members. The work of these five continues the tradition of diversity and talent that makes Spring Street an exciting venue:
Alex Baba-Vulik is a highly accomplished photographer who works in both color and black-and-white to produce powerful, haunting images of the island.
Karen Capuciati produces beautiful ceramic work which is functional, yet also reflects her fascination with ritual objects.
The work of Gerard Closset, also a photographer, is familiar to many islanders through his recently published book, Block Island - One of the Last Great Places. His newest work at the gallery includes images printed on a metal surface with an almost liquid gloss and intensely saturated colors.
Jane Emsbo is a painter who works intuitively with a variety of media. Her non-objective works are full of visual surprises against a carefully-considered sense of structure.
Ted Merritt is an enthusiastic painter who works in a variety of styles, both naturalistic and abstract. What comes across in his work is a willingness to experiment with materials and ideas and a great sense of restless energy.
