Photo by: John Spier Kerri Spier recently graduated from Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I., and has completed her academic studies to become a certified mental health counselor in the state. She is offering free counseling to those who feel they may need it.

On Sunday, May 19, Kerri Spier of West Side Road, Block Island, graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS). This degree, in conjunction with her M.A. in Counseling, which she completed in 2012, completes her academic requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Professional in Rhode Island.

Additionally, Kerri has spent the past two years working at CODAC Newport, counseling individuals and groups on a wide range of addiction and chemical dependency issues. She is currently sitting for Rhode Island licensure as a Chemical Dependency Professional (LCDP).

Kerri continues to work part-time at CODAC, and maintains her own private practice with an office in Wickford, RI. She is also available by appointment on Block Island.

In the wake of Block Island’s recent and continuing history of drug and alcohol related tragedies, Kerri would like to share her education and experience with the community by offering free confidential counseling to island residents who may be struggling with these issues.

Please feel free to call her at (401) 752-9504.
