The following was sent in to us from Linda Spak:

In December, my husband Sam and I visited Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany where Sam was stationed in the 1960s. We presented donations totaling almost $3,000 from the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and our friends here and in Maine to the Wounded Warriors Fund Chaplain’s Closet at the hospital.

Soldiers being treated for battlefield injuries can “shop for free” at this facility for items to help make their stay more comfortable. We also toured the USO facility at the post where soldiers from various bases in Europe relax while at Landstuhl for outpatient treatment.

For four years, the American Legion Auxiliary here on the island has been sending packages to soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
