Making A Difference: Peter Greenman
Peter Greenman “retired” to the island 21 years ago with his wife, Sandy, and began a new career as a full time volunteer. He is the force behind the periodic Red Cross Blood Drives working to publicize and coordinate the events. He is a two decade-long member of “Adrian’s Army,” working every week to clear and maintain the walking trails. Peter is most proud of his efforts to support the acquisition of the Mitchell Farm property when he was a director, several years ago, of the Block Island Conservancy. Peter and Sandy sing in the St Andrew Church choir, and he has been part of the Ecumenical Choir and organized an annual barbershop music concert to benefit local charities.
Peter has also volunteered on behalf of Scenic Block Island and serves as treasurer of the Block Island Fire and Rescue Squad. We salute Peter Greenman for his selfless efforts in this second installment of a series called "Making a Difference," which places a spotlight on those who work as volunteers to make ourcommunity a better place. — Fraser Lang
