Lights of Love scores a big success
Lights of Love, a major fundraising campaign for the Block Island Medical Center, scored a big success this year by raising $29,415 from 248 individual donors.
The paper Christmas Tree that is the symbol of the campaign was decidedly empty when it was put up late last year. Now it’s completely full, covered in paper bulbs with the names of donors and of the people for whom the donation was made. The campaign officially ended on Jan. 17.
“We had a good marketing campaign that was targeted and effective,” said Cindy Baute, who is co-chair of the medical center’s fundraising committee.
“We received contributions from all kinds of people: visitors, year-rounders, summer people,” said Executive Director Barbara Baldwin. “Very much across the board.”
Both Baute and Baldwin made a point to say that even though the campaign was over for this year, people are still encouraged to donate to the island’s only medical facility.
“Everything is appreciated, large or small,” said Baute.
