By Block Island Residents Association | Oct 28, 2013

The Electric Utility Task Group has updated its projections of the electricity cost savings from the Deepwater Wind Project with new information and has reconfirmed a 40% reduction in kWh costs. Here is their memo:

There is also a proposal to purchase electricity from the on-shore wind farm in Maine at a cost of 8 cents kw/h with a stand-alone cable to BI financed by the RI user base, but the Maine wind farm developer has not received any approvals and may not get any to send electricity out of state.

Deepwater Winds is obligated to provide BI with a cable even if the phase 1 demonstration project is abandoned and only the phase 2, 200 wind turbine farm is built.
