Jessica Willi wins Mary Brennan Tourism Award
The Rhode Island Hospitality Association recently honored Jessica Willi, a Block Island resident and Executive Director of the Block Island Tourism Council, with the Mary Brennan Tourism Award at its “Stars of the Industry” Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony.
The Stars of the Industry Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of members in the hospitality, food service and tourism industries. Award recipients were chosen not only for their dedication and contributions to their careers, but for their involvement in the local communities.
As Executive Director of the Block Island Tourism Council (she’s been with the group since 2006), Willi oversees all of the day-to-day operations of the Tourism Council. As the only employee of the Tourism Council, Willi is in charge of all administrative duties, budgets, representation at trade shows, relations with state, regional and local officials and all marketing efforts. A few highlights include overseeing of the reconstruction of the council’s website as well as the full creation of their mobile site, overseeing the annual magazine put out by the Tourism Council.
“Mary Brennan served as the Director of Marketing for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation and she helped lay the foundation for many of the tourism initiatives in-place today. Jessica Willi is a true, dedicated professional and tourism advocate. I know that Mary Brennan would be extremely appreciative of Jessica’s devotion to our tourism industry,” said Dale Venturini, President and CEO of RIHA.
Previous to joining the Block Island Tourism Council, Willi held a number of restaurant and resort management positions.
With more than 600 food service and hospitality members in Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Hospitality Association has been the voice of the hospitality and tourism industry in the state for more than 27 years.
