As the temperature goes up, so does the heat with your Senior Advisory Committee. Things are starting to sizzle so stay tuned.

Saturday, March 2

Coffee Tea or Smoothie Social: 9 - 10 a.m. Community Center: Wonder what new and yummy for your tummy recipe we are going to try out for our smoothie this time? Wonder what I am even talking about when I say smoothie? Well stop on by. It’s fab and free.

Monday, March 4

Dining Delivered: Door to door delivery to your home. Block Island’s Meals on Wheels. Call Betsey at 466-2339 to order yours. $5.

Tuesday, March 5

Chair Aerobics: Better get up off that couch. Robin will be back next week.

Lunch Bunch: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Community Center: Have you ever wondered what you are missing? Have you always wanted to come to the Lunch Bunch, but felt out of place? Well here is your personal invitation to enjoy a incredible, home cooked meal, served to you, and all while you get to sit and chat with other islanders. It makes for a wonderful day. You will be glad you came. Everyone is welcome. Cost $4.

Wednesday, March 6

Wednesday Walk: 9 - 9:30 p.m. Rebecca’s Statue: This month we are moving away from Heinz field and back again to Rebecca’s Statue. We are also starting an hour earlier so you can get on with your day. A walk a day keeps the doctor away. You can make a short stroll or a long loop and go at your own pace. Let’s just get walking. You will warm right up. Don’t forget your Wednesday Walk. See you there.

Thursday, March 7

Off Island: Pequot Museum/Foxwoods/MGM: Join us for a day on the mainland, as we head to over the border to CT, to the incredible Pequot Indian Museum and/or for gaming at Foxwoods/MGM. Our recreation van will bring us down and back to the boat. Lunch is available at either place and a shuttle is available to go between the museum and gaming. Wear your sneakers. Entrance to the museum is $13 and there is no entrance fee for gaming. Please call or email in advance to sign up.

Chair Aerobics: Robin’s coming...next Tuesday. Look alive!

Soup Group: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Community Center: And here is your personal invitation for the Soup Group as well. Each week, someone lovingly prepares lunch with soup being the main entree. You will leave feeling full and refreshed. All ages welcome. Cost $3.

Meditation with Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey (Online) If you are always wondering about meditation, now you can try this online 21-day challenge in the privacy of your own home. It’s free, easy and it’s fun. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain by learning to meditate. We will meet tonight at the Community Center to kick it off, but if you prefer you can start by yourself, or with a spouse or friends at home. Either way check it out. Art classes with our very own Jean Valentine. Are you an inspired to be an artist? Well now you can be with our series of four art classes with Jean. Classes will be held on consecutive Wednesdays from 2-4. Details to follow. Must sign up in advance. Limited to six lucky people.

Ukrainian Egg Decorating: Becca Hollaway will show us, step by step, how to create these oh so beautiful and oh so delicate eggs just in time for spring! Join us at the Island Free Library from 12:30-2:45 p.m. $8 Please call or email to reserve your spot as this incredible class is limited.

Monday, March 18

Logee Greenhouses: Join us for a day off island in Danielson, CT. Experience sights and smells of spring with a private tour, followed by lunch at George’s Galley. A perfect day! Your cost is the ferry ticket and your lunch. First-come, first-served for seats on the van! Please call or email to sign up.

In the Future:

AARP Drivers Safety Course: Take this course and save on your Insurance. This class is being rescheduled for later in the spring, but I am taking names of those interested so you will be first on the list. I will keep you posted.
