Knife Sharpening and Nibbles: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Community Center. Anyone is welcome to come and bring up to three knives to be sharpened. We will serve nibbles to test your newly sharpened knives! Advanced registration is requested, if possible. Free

Precious Preschoolers: Perhaps you would like to read a book or bake some cookies together with the adorable children at the Block Island Learning Center. Call Tracy Heinz (575-8650) to set up your time in advance.

Monday, February 18

Meditations Monday: 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Community Center. Meditation, Breathing Exercises or Guided Imagery. Try one on for size. Free

Sensational Salad: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. When most of us think of salad, we think of lettuce, tomato and cucumber, but it can be so much more. Betty Lincoln will help us create a salad that will feel more like a meal. Join us again at Sandy Gaffett’s home for a sensational salad that will surely satisfy you. Learn some new ideas, and then sit down and enjoy eating what you have just created! Please call in advance to sign up.

Chair Aerobics: 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Community Center. Find out what everyone on the island is raving about! Join Robin Lewis and your friends for the best workout in town! $3

Lunch Bunch: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Community Center. Home cooked. Homemade from scratch. Best Deal and Best Meal in town. $4

Wednesday, February 20

Wednesday Walks: 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Heinz Field Track. Walk a few laps around the track with us. Wear boots!

Thursday, February 21

Flower Show in Providence. Go off for the day to see the Flower Show at the Convention Center in Providence. It’s the 20th year celebration! There are plenty of places to eat and it’s attached to the Providence Place Mall. Tickets $17 Please call or email in advance to sign up.

Tai Chi: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Island Free Library. A wonderful, free flowing form of meditation.

Thursday, March 7

Pequot Museum/Foxwoods/MGM: Join us for a day on the mainland, as we head to Connecticut to the Pequot Indian Museum and/or gaming at Foxwoods/MGM. Our recreation van will bring us down and back to the boat. Lunch is available at either place and a shuttle is available to go between the museum and gaming. Wear your sneakers! $13 entrance for museum. No entrance fee for gaming. Please call or email in advance to sign up.

Monday, March 18

Logee Greenhouses: Join us for a day off island in Danielson, Conn. Experience sights and smells of Spring with a private tour, followed by lunch at George’s Galley. Cost is ferry ticket and your lunch. First come, first served for seats on the van! Please call or email to sign up.

AARP Drivers Safety Course: This class is being rescheduled for later in the spring. I will keep you posted.
