Monday-Friday

Precious Preschoolers: If you want a sure-fire way to warm your heart in this cold weather, arrange to spend time together with the adorable children at the Block Island Learning Center. Call Tracy Heinz (575-8650) to set up a time in advance.

Monday, February 11

Dining Delivered: For our special seniors, we offer a hot, home-cooked meal delivered to your door. Call Betsey (466-2339) to arrange for yours. $5

Tuesday, February 12

Chair Aerobics: 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Community Center. Be in great shape for your Valentine! Workout with Robin. $3

Lunch Bunch: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Community Center. Best meal, best deal on the Block. $4

Wednesday, February 13

Wednesday Walks: 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Heinz Field Track. We are thinking of moving this to another spot. Where would you like to walk? Please let me know!

Thursday, February 14

Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember, Dr. Oz says that if your dark chocolate has a minimum of 70 percent cocoa, it counts as a health food! So celebrate and get healthy!

Chair Aerobics: 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Community Center. Okay, so Valentine’s is over, but bathing suit season is coming! Join Robin for a great workout. $3

Soup Group: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Community Center. I am so looking forward to eating this yummy turkey soup that I am making today! If you’re not making homemade soup today, then why not enjoy some soup that someone else made! $3

Saturday, February 16

Knife Sharpening: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Community Center. Want to be a slick slicer? Specialist Sam Spak will be here to show us how to sharpen our knives. Limit three knives/per person. We will have nibbles to test out your newly sharpened knives with! Signing up in advance is appreciated. Free

Sensational Salad: Tired of the same old, same old? Well then join us as Betty Lincoln teaches us, not only how to add some pizzaz to our salads, but how to make them even more nutritious and delicious! The best part is, we are going to eat this sensational salad right after we are done making it! Must call or email in advance to sign up.

Thursday, Februay 21

Off Island: Flower Show in Providence. Go off for the day to see the Flower Show at the Convention Center in Providence. It’s the 20th year celebration! There’s plenty of places to eat, and it’s attached to the Providence Place Mall. Tickets $17 Must call or email in advance to sign up.

Thursday, March 7

Off Island: Pequot Museum/Foxwoods/MGM. Must call in advance to sign up. Join us for a day on the mainland, as we head to Connecticut to the Pequot Indian Museum and/or gaming at Foxwoods/MGM. Our recreation van will bring us down and back to and from the boat. Lunch is available at either place and shuttle available to go between the two. Wear your sneakers! $13 entrance for museum. No entrance for gaming. Must call or email in advance to sign up.

Friday, March 15

AARP Drivers Discount: We will have a guest presenter from AARP come to Block Island to present the class. Rhode Island state law says if you are 50+ and take this driver safety course you are entitled to a discount on your insurance. $12 (if AARP member). Must call or email in advance to sign up.
