Island adventures

By Kathleen Mitchell: Senior Coordinator | Dec 14, 2012

I surely Ho-Ho-hope that this last entry for 2012 finds everyone perfectly positive and staying happy and healthy for the holidays. We have a few more wonderful activities planned for you this week and then we will have the week of Christmas and New Year's off. There may be activities planned, but you should check with your individual sponsors. I hope that you have had a Happy Hanukkah and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I will greet you in the New Year with vim and vigor! Don't forget that the contest is still going and you still have time to earn points for the big prize money!

Monday, December 17:

Monday Meditation: What is free, needs little or no equipment, can be done anywhere, is easy to learn and has over 100 benefits? That's right, it's Meditation. See what it does for you on Monday at the Community Center at 9:00 a.m. Free

Tuesday, December 18:

Chair Aerobics: You know the drill, it comes with a smile and you go feeling great. Work out with Robin at the Community Center at 10:30 a.m. $3

Lunch Bunch: If you don't know about this one, you are really missing out! Anyone can join us for lunch at the Community Center at 12:30. $4

Wedenesday, December 19:

This day is filled with goodies! We wish that you will join us...We wish that you will join us...We wish that you will join us and have some holiday fun!

Sea Glass Earrings: Back by popular demand, we have Barbara Battey, teaching us how to make more sea-glass jewelry and this time we will be learning how to make earrings for your self or for a friend. Meet us at the Community Center at 1:00. Cost of materials is $20. Scholarships are always available.

Christmas Cookies, Carols and Caravan: Do you ever want to see all the Christmas lights lit up at night but don't want to go out driving? Then call us. We will pick you up at your door and bring you to the Community Center to nibble on cookies and hot chocolate, and to sing some Christmas songs with our very own Betty Fitzpatrick on the ivories. Next you will be driven around the island by Santa Sam himself, to see the lights! Then we will safely deliver you back to your home after a fun filled evening. All you have to do is call to sign up so we can plan to pick you up! Call 466-7712. 4:00-6:00. Free and Magical.

Thursday, December 20:

Wickford Stroll. Wakefield Foodshop: Wickford, Westerly or Wakefield. You name it. Do some last minute shopping in the morning and then food shop in the afternoon. Transportation on the mainland is provided. Must call to sign up at 466-7712 or email me by Tuesday, December 18th at noon.

Friday, December 21:

Get a Movin' and a Groovn' Contest: Well the contest is over today, but don't stop now! You are already ahead for your New Year's Resolution. All one has to do to win your winnings is to tell me the number of points that you have earned in these last 21 days, by the end of the day, today. You can call me or email me, or just jog on over!

Soup Group: Soup, soup, tasty soup, terrific group. And then there's dessert! All are welcome at the Community Center at 12:30. $3
