I met Margaret Thatcher

By Fraser Lang | Apr 11, 2013

Some years ago Margaret Thatcher was the featured speaker at a Brown University event in New York City that I attended.  I had the opportunity to exchange pleasantries and I found her charming.  She was a powerful presence.

During her speech a protestor burst through the door and began shouting. Thatcher never missed a beat.

The protestor was subdued and removed by security officers. It was Thatcher’s poise and sense of command that impressed me.

Whether or not you agree with all of Thatcher’s policies, I think most would concede that she was a true leader articulating a vision and pursuing her agenda relentlessly.

Sadly we had a death of such vision and leadership this week.
