Hurricanes have double shutout weekend
The Block Island School Hurricanes had a very successful weekend while playing Oxford on Friday in an away game and the Rhode Island School of the Deaf on Saturday at home. Tadhg O’Neill and the Canes accomplished a rare feat by getting not one, but two shutouts. Not a single goal was scored by either of the opposing teams. Not only that, but the Hurricane’s offense was on fire as well.
Mason Littlefield led the team against Oxford, putting in three goals, while Oliver Mott and Ryan McGarry each scored goals of their own. Block Island won the match 5 to 0.
On Saturday, the Hurricanes played a downsized seven on seven match against the Rhode Island School of the Deaf, wining 9 to 0 to the delight of the hometown crowd. Block Island’s offense exploded, scoring numerous goals including Grace O’Neill’s hat-trick (three goals) and James McNerney’s first goal on the varsity team.
These two games boosted the Block Island Hurricanes record to three wins and one loss.
