BIHS membership rules
The By-Laws of Block Island Health Services (BIHS) state that the membership of the corporation shall consist of all natural persons of voting age who have submitted a completed application for membership and who have paid membership dues or other charges established by the Board of Directors.
To be consistent with this by-law requirement, membership will only be conferred on an individual/s who has/have completed a membership form and paid the membership dues of $25 per person or $45 for a family membership (family meaning two adults).
Because there has been some confusion about this matter, we would like to make obtaining BIHS membership as simple, fair and open as possible. It is our wish not to exclude anyone who wishes to be a member. Therefore:
If you have made a donation to BIHS between July 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013 in an amount equal to or exceeding the $25/$45 membership fee, you may request that the membership fee be deducted from your overall gift, but you must complete a membership card to indicate your wish to be a member. This can be done by contacting the Executive Director, Barbara Baldwin, at 466-2125 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org before June 1, 2013.
If you want to determine if you are a member in good standing, please call the Baldwin to confirm.
The current membership year began July 1, 2012 and ends June 30, 2013. You will have to renew your membership as of July 1, 2013 to remain a member in good standing.
