Members of the Bock Island Gardeners and other volunteers recently gathered at the Harbor Church to begin creating the 40 Christmas wreaths that will be distributed around town, including utility poles, municipal buildings, at the ferry dock, Rebecca and at the airport.

Volunteer Claire McQueeny led the way, teaching various volunteers on the art of tying an attractive bow. Other elves worked on creating decorations, such as pine cones, Christmas ornaments and painted clam shells.

On Nov. 21, members and volunteers will meet at Harbor Church at 9:30 a.m. to create the wreaths and distribute them in time to start the Christmas season right after Thanksgiving. — Fred Nelson
