Mrs. Charles A. Ernst III of Devon, Penn., Mr. Steven B. Schottland of Marco Island, Fla., and Melissa Hempstead of Block Island are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, David Nicholson Schottland, to Lindsey Elizabeth Plewa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Plewa of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

Ms. Plewa holds a Master of Arts from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is a manager of graduate career programs at Baruch College, where she coaches MBA students to help them secure satisfying work.

Mr. Schottland, who graduated from the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Penn., holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is a middle school language arts teacher in northern New Jersey.

After an October 5, 2013, wedding in Northampton, Mass., the couple will reside in Jersey City, N.J.
