Michael Brownstein MD PhD will give a talk for the public on the topic: "Depression: 'Thou has laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps' (Psalm 88)" on Thursday, October 25, at 7:00 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Dr. Brownstein was for many years with the National Institute of Mental Health and continues to do independent research sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. This talk will discuss the symptoms, causes, and treatment of both unipolar and bipolar depression, plus how depression appears differently in children. It will be a nontechnical presentation for the general public followed by a time of question and answer. This is the fifth and last talk (this year) sponsored by the Mental Health Task Force. Admission is free.
