Don’t be left out in the cold
Are you having trouble affording the high cost of heating your home in the winter? Help is on the way through South County Community Action Agency (SCCAA).
The SCCAA Heating Assistance Program remains open as the organization continues to accept application for the winter program. There is no official close date for submitting applications, according to media contact Judy Cashman. Applications are usually accepted until March.
Heating assistance grants are available to both homeowners and renters alike. Whether you are an individual living alone, a working family with children, unemployed, disabled or elderly, you may be eligible for help. One-time heating grants range between $400 to $660, which is paid directly to your heating vendor.
Eligibility is based on income and household size. A household of four can earn up to $52,676 and be eligible to receive assistance. A household of two can earn up to $35,820 and receive assistance.
In addition to receiving heating assistance, eligible households will also receive a discount on their electric bill, saving them additional dollars every month.
