Crescent Beach Snow Fencing Project Enjoys Impressive Start
Around 100 Block Islanders showed up at Town Beach at 9:00 a.m. Saturday for a community work day to dig post holes, install roughly a half mile of snow fencing around our Crescent Beach dunes, and delineate several beach access paths. These local heroes have the sincere thanks of not only BIRA, but of the Conservation Commission, and the entire island, as well. Our thanks also go out to all those generous souls who donated/pledged funding for the purchase of the fencing and posts and wire for the project, including organizations such as the Roosa Fund and the Lions Club. We will be announcing another community work day some time in the future in order to continue this extremely worthwhile project. See our photo gallery here, donated by Dawn Holmes, for 10 more photos of the event.
