Corn Neck Road accident a traffic violation
An individual has been identified after a hit-and-run accident that occurred at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, on Corn Neck Road, police told The Block Island Times on Monday, June 24.
Police Chief Vin Carlone told The Block Island Times that the incident was “definitely not alcohol-related and seems to be a case of distracted driving.”
According to police, a car crossed the center yellow line and struck a bicyclist and then left the scene. The bicyclist went to the hospital with injuries.
Update: An earlier version of the story reported that the individual had been charged in the R.I. traffic tribunal. However, Police told The Block Island Times on July 1 that they chose not to charge the individual at this time. The name of the individual has not been released.
