Conn. man identified as drowning victim
Mark A. Marsella, 51, from Clinton, Conn., has been identified as the man who died on Saturday, June 15, on Block Island.
The cause of death was drowning, according to Andrea Bagnall Degos, spokesperson at the Rhode Island Department of Health.
Police tell The Block Island Times that the body was discovered on Saturday, June 15 around 9:08 a.m. on the shores of what’s locally referred to as Mosquito Beach, which is located in Block Island’s Great Salt Pond.
Police started their search after being notified that the individual was missing from his boat, which was in Great Salt Pond.
New Shoreham Police Chief Vincent Carlone said that there is “nothing suspicious” about the incident.
