BLOCK ISLAND INSHORE FISHING TOURNAMENT Sept. 13-15Presented by the Block Island Lions Club

Tournament fishing starts at 6pm Friday and runs until noon on Sunday.  $40 registration for adults, $20 for juniors - includes a t-shirt and cookout hosted by the Narragansett Inn on Sunday at 1pm.  All proceeds benefit the National Chidren's Cancer Society and the Block Island Lions Club youth activities fund.  Stop in or contact Block Island Fishworks on Ocean Ave for more information 401-466-5392

Rules and Info

· Species targeted – Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke, Sea Bass, Scup, Atlantic Bonito, and False Albacore

· All fish must be caught on conventional, spin, or fly fishing tackle. Bait allowed for Striped Bass, Fluke, Scup and Seabass only.

· Each Angler must check in and register by 6pm on Friday at Block Island Fishworks on Ocean Avenue or Twin Maples on Beach Avenue. $40 registration fee, $20 for Juniors, includes a tourney t-shirt and cookout hosted by the Narragansett Inn.

· Fishing will start at 6pm on Friday and ends at the 12pm weigh in on Sunday.

· Catch and release anglers must provide a means to have photo verification of catches via camera phone or digital camera. All other fish must be weighed in to be eligible for prizes.

· Weigh-ins will be held at Block Island Fishworks during regular business hours (8am-5pm). Party and awards at 1pm on Sunday sponsored and held by the Narragansett Inn.

· Tournament limits for killed fish: minimum size for Fluke is 21”, Seabass 15”, Scup 12”, Bluefish is 24”, Striped Bass must be 32" for fly fisherman and for plug/artificial/lure anglers, and 38" for bait and trolling fishermen. The use of any natural baits (eel skins, squid, sandworms, etc…) in conjunction with artificial baits (plugs, tubes, jigs, etc…) will be considered in the ‘bait’ division.

· No tournament length limits for Catch and Release category. Anglers must provide photo verification of fish on provided ruler and recorded length. Total length overall for bass, bluefish, and bonito or false albacore will be tallied for the grand prize winner

Tournament Format
The heaviest fish in the appropriate categories below will qualify for the prizes on Sunday at 1pm during the cookout. The new Catch and Release Category will be for the total combined length of striped bass, bluefish, bonito and false (any combination of fly fishing or spinning tackle allowed).

Fly Fishing & Spin Division - Catch and Release Only
Boat - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito   
Beach - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito

Spin / Conventional Division
Boat - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito
Beach - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito

Bait – Bass, Seabass, Scup & Fluke Only
(one winning fish per species)
Bait is allowed for Striped Bass, Seabass, Scup & Fluke only, from the boat or beach – bass must be a minimum 38” and 20lbs, Seabass must be 15”, Scup 12”, Fluke must be at least 21” to qualify. Circle hooks are encouraged.

Junior Division is same as above…

Weigh-in’s & Photo verification will be at Block Island Fishworks during business hours (8am-6pm)
