Block Island Fishing Report - The Tuna are Here!

This past week we received the first good reports of tuna being caught on the grounds South of Block Island.  Bluefin, Yellowfin, and Albacore have been taken as close as 25 miles, most fish however were at the 50+ mile range.  Green Machines, Ilanders, and Hogy daisy chains on the troll worked for some of the fleet - but Ballyhoo was the go to bait.  Pictured here is Capt. Rob Mastrocola and 12 yr old EJ with his first Albacore Tuna caught July 20th.

Sharking has also been pretty hot with 300lb class mako's being caught within 20 miles.  Fresh bluefish is the bait of choice - so keep your bluefish if you plan on sharking!

Shark and Tuna trips are available at Block Island Fishworks - call 455-5392 or 742-3992 for availability.
