Block Island Arts Guild Scholarship available
The Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild is now accepting applications for the 2014 Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild Scholarship. Seniors graduating from the Block Island School intending to further their art education may be awarded $1,000 and college undergraduate art students currently enrolled in art courses may receive up to $750 to advance their art studies.
Students applying for the non-renewable scholarships must complete an application process that includes the submission of a 500-word essay. A portfolio of no less than 12 artworks is also required. Students must supply proof of high school attendance for a minimum of three years at the Block Island School. For additional criteria, applicants should acquire application materials from the Block Island School Guidance office (466-5600) or contact Teri McCombe at 466-2684.
Interested students should submit completed application materials to Teri McCombe by the May 1, 2014 deadline. Scholarships are awarded annually in June at graduation.
