Seasonal Block Island resident and photographer, Gerard Closet, will be giving a talk at BIMI tonight at 7pm at Smuggler's on Ocean Avenue. The topic will be "The Coral Reefs of Indonesia and the Pacific".
A scuba diver for many years, Gerard started taking photos underwater 20 years ago. He and his wife Nicki, his dive buddy, travel to dive destinations in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Gerard’s photographs document those many dives. They recently visited Indonesia and dove for two weeks in remote areas of the Banda and Sulawesi Seas, in NE Indonesia. This was some of the best diving he has experienced and came back with many photos of the pristine coral reef and its wildlife.
Last year Gerard started a company, “Exotic Wildlife Publishing LLC” and published a book of Block Island photographs entitled “Block Island, One of the Last Great Places’. His photographs can be seen on his website “exoticwildlifephotos.com”.
All BIMI lectures are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
