The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) has announced that a new art exhibition of works by Barbara L. Green will be held from Jan. 17 through April 1, 2014 at the Block Island Airport gallery. The Block Island Airport gallery presents the work of contemporary Rhode Island artists in quarterly exhibitions.

Green’s works on paper are executed in series, and are abstract and figurative works inspired by natural elements such as flowing water, feathers and trees. Linear elements, patterns and rhythms also feature prominently in her works. Born in Germany, Green received her master’s from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the group “19 on Paper,” and has exhibited widely in a career spanning 40 years. Her work is held in numerous corporate and institutional collections. Green is a resident of Barrington, Rhode Island.

Exhibitors for the Block Island Airport gallery were selected by a panel of artists and community members. Panelists are Marilyn Bogdanfy, Jon Campbell, Peruko Ccopacatty and Christine Grele. Other exhibitors selected for the 2014 cycle are Linnea Toney Leeming, Sean and Leslie Hartnett, and Robert Lavoie.

The Block Island Airport Gallery, a partnership between the Rhode Island Council on the Arts and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, promotes outstanding work by artists living and working in Rhode Island. The gallery will present art to an ever-changing audience of local, national and international travelers.
