"Ban the Bag" and Beach Cleanups-The Surfrider Foundation to present at next BIMI lecture, Tuesday July 30th

The Block Island Maritime Institute (BIMI), will host the sixth of it's summer lecture series at 7pm on Tuesday July 30th at Smuggler's Cove on Ocean Avenue. Kira Stillwell is the treasurer of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and served on its National Board of Directors for six years.


Kira's lecture: "Grassroots Activists Stewarding Your Coast: Meet the Surfrider Foundation", will talk about the history, organization and goals of the Surfrider Foundation especially its "Ban the Bag" initiative and the beach SAMP program which seeks grassroots support to protect and preserve America's coastlines.


Half of the donations received Tuesday will go to the Surfrider Foundation, RI Chapter.


All BIMI lectures are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
