Addiction talk on June 30At the Island Free Library
The Mental Health Task Force is beginning its second summer series of public talks with a program on Sunday, June 30 called “This Is Your Brain on Drugs: The Experience and Brain Chemistry of Addiction.”
The panel presentation will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Island Free Library.
The three presenters will be Rico Warren, Dr. Michael Brownstein, and Dr Alice Brownstein.
Rico Warren is a recovering addict who serves as a recovery coach with National Association Mental Illness Rhode Island in Providence. Michael Brownstein, PhD, MD, is a neuroscientist retired from the National Institute of Mental Health and is involved in several current drug research projects. He is a summer resident. Alice Brownstein, MD, is a physician in Seattle.
This summer’s series on mental health issues will give special attention to drug abuse because of recent concerns on the island. The talks are geared toward laypersons and are free of charge.
