PHILOSOPHY

The Block Island Early Learning Center is a licensed facility committed to meeting each child's developmental needs by creating an ongoing curriculum, which incorporates all of the RI Early Learning Standards with an emphasis on play and school community.  We strive to provided affordable childcare for all Block Island Residents.

HISTORY

The original center was founding in 1977 and operated as a private nursery school by the Town of New Shoreham. In September of 2002, the facility moved to the new complex at Older Harbor Meadow where services were expanded to included a pre-school and childcare program. Funding comes from tuition, Town of New Shoreham tax appropriations and donations. The Center is governed by the Block Island Early Learning Center Board of Directors.
